The Fennec helicopter is reported to have clipped the rotor of the AW139, leading to both aircraft crashing at the naval base; one near the steps of the stadium and the other into the swimming pool of the base’s sports complex.
Footage of the tragic event circulated on social media, showing the helicopters flying in formation before the fatal incident. The authenticity of the footage has been confirmed by local police. The Royal Malaysian Navy has announced that it will conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the collision.
The navy has confirmed that all victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The remains have been transported to Lumut Military Hospital for identification and to proceed with the necessary formalities.
